The largest vehicle in the Genesis sedan lineup is back and more luxurious, power, and tech-savvy than ever. The latest model year of the G80 gets a few important updates, most notably a new interior design and a new camera-based adaptive suspension. Otherwise, the 2021 Genesis G80 is a carryover from the 2020 model year. The new Genesis G80 is available in three trim levels: Standard, Advanced, and Prestige.

 

Performance

The G80 features two engine options, both offering up serious power and a variety of performance upgrades. Slotting in as the standard engine is a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 that makes 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. Drivers can enjoy an 8-speed automatic transmission and a choice between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. If more power is necessary, drivers can opt for an available 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that makes 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. As with the 2.5-liter turbocharged engine, drivers can expect an 8-speed automatic transmission and a choice between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

 

Technology

The G80 really goes above and beyond to ensures ample tech regardless of the trim selected. Indeed, the base Standard trim comes equipped with an impressively long list of tech offerings that range from a touchscreen infotainment display to satellite radio and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Stepping to higher trim, like the Advanced, provides an even more robust set of tech features. The Advanced trim includes a Lexicon premium audio system that features 21 speakers. The Prestige trim goes even further, adding in wireless device charging, a digital key, and surround view monitor. Oh, we should also mention that all trims includes a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment display that also includes a navigation system.

 

Interior & Exterior Features

 

The interior of the G80 covers all the essential luxury bases, providing lavishly comfortable leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and push-button start. That's just the base trim, too. Moving to the Advanced trim changes things up, adding in a panoramic roof, matte-finish wood trim, heated/ventilated front seats, and tri-zone automatic climate control. The Prestige trim provides the most impressive set of interior features. The Prestige includes leather upholstered seats, ergo motion driver's seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.

 

The new G80 keeps things concise in the exterior feature realm, offering drivers a handful of wheel size options along with a host of functional exterior features. Notable exterior features range from twin-bar lighting elements to fender vents, LED taillights, and a variety of driver assistance features. All new G80 models come equipped with a bundle of driver assistance features. The base Standard trim includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping/follow assist, rear cross traffic collision avoidance, and forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian/cyclist detection.
