Touching Up the Paint on Your Car

Keeping your car looking like new can really help you to get the best price for it when you decide to sell. While washing and waxing it regularly will help to protect the surface, there are some imperfections that can't be covered up so easily.

You can order a perfect match for your paint in small touch-up bottles that include an applicator. You'll want to prepare the surface of the scratch by washing it and drying it thoroughly. In order for the paint to adhere, lightly sand the area with a fine-grit sandpaper. Touch up the area carefully, starting with a small amount and adding more as necessary.

If the scratch or chip is deep, you may need to add a primer first to bring the scratch to the same level as the surrounding paint. After the primer dries, you can apply paint just as you would to a surface scratch.
